The Sunset — c.2005

It’s silent and it’s still; no-one is near;

I look across the valley and the hills-

I sit; a quiet spot. The air is clear;

The time where frost creeps onto windowsills;

A cool breeze through the trees- the only sound.

I’m waiting, quietly waiting, for quite soon

A sight beyond amazement will be found:

The sun will disappear to leave the moon…

Then bright across the sky, there’s pink and gold

A sight that every boy and girl can see:

Colours of twilight, colours so bold

As if a sky of sins has been swept clean.

Then suddenly it’s gone to leave moonlight:

The crisp and chilling day is now the night.
